Riding seasons end for me.

Post by Sassy »

Out for my last ride of the season today.
200-250 miles, spent time cruzin the back roads of Trail BC, up to Rossland, Castlegar and home.
Few pics, the river is the Columbia looking to the US border south of Trail, the red trees are in Rossland the hometown of world famous skier Nancy Greene. The hillside with the ski runs is Red Mountain which will soon be white and full of skiers and the beautiful countryside around there.

That looked like a very nice ride. What were your temperatures?

The valleys are 50s-60s but the problem is to get from valley to valley the passes are close to snow.
I only insure the bike for the road mid March to mid October,,,, and here we are 😔.

Beautiful pictures of the scenery were you live Sassy, I'm sure you have many miles under your belt even this fall. We're in the process of closing the cabin for the year, I shut the water off last week, we'll be going up to store the ATV'S and bring home to items we don't want to freeze. It was a quick summer, but a very exciting one also. More memories to come...I'm really enjoying this retired life!! Take care of yourself Sassy!!

Sassy
You do live in a beautiful area, I have yet to get up your way to ride.
Here in southern NH we are getting mother nature with pms.
Monday morning I awoke to snow flurries, covering the roof of the house and my van roof, with enough to gather together to make a few snowballs to throw at my friends.
We're getting many days with highs in the low to mid 50s, the lows at times are in the 20s and 30s, but she is having hot flashes still with a high(usually 1-3 days in a week) mid to high 70s in the mid week days, yesterday we had 81°F degrees, right now at 4am it's unreasonably 67°F, forecast today is for 76°F. Tomorrow another cold front will blow in from Canada so back to 50s for highs and who knows what....next Wednesday is backs into the mid to high 60s.....
I'm still riding when I can, but still working on framing a garage for friends so they can enjoy finally parking their cars in a garage for the coming winter's of their retirement. I hope to get in more rides on my 08 wing through November, my 75 CB750 riding days is down to a very numbered chances and will be put away soon, after a ride to warm up the oil enough to go home and drain the oil and change the oil and filter, drain the carbs, inject Marvel Mystery Oil in the carbs for the winter nap, drain the gas out of the tank, rinse out any water condensation with multiple rinses of diesel fuel, the pickel coat with 2 stroke oil. I also need to clear out the store room 750 nap area, of parts I have bought over the summer for my other 750 winter project bikes..... oh the fun of fall.
These pictures are from my October 8th ride of 350 miles up to the White Mountains of NH.

Riding season ends for me the day I die! Nothing against anyone who takes the winter off, but I have never winterized a motorcycle. I live in the Philadelphia area, and we get our fair share of snow and freezing temperatures. Even so, the roads get cleared fairly soon after snow storms and are passable. My winter rides are shorter, and usually in the late afternoon, but I enjoy them a lot. I'm looking forward to winter more than ever because now I own a Goldwing :)

Beautiful fall pictures!!! We're winding down in SW OH, but mother nature is messing with us down here too! Incredibly warm October, November starting off very fall like. I'll do one last ride soon to top off and stabilize the fuel, then tuck her away with the tender. No biggie, I too have a layup period.
