I was an electronics service engineer in east London UK, tv, video, audio and anything else electrical someone walked in the shop with that didn't work I'd have a go at. Had my own shop for 40 years, one day discovered no one had tv's repaired anymore, they just threw them away and bought a new one from the supermarket, so I sold my shop and learned to drive a bus, 3 years later I turned 60 years old, my pensions matured so I left the bus company and moved to my holiday home in France that I'd bought with the proceeds of selling the shop. Not ridden a bike for 30 years, one bike led to another, finally arriving at a can am spyder, remembering my last bike of my youth GL1000, I bought a GL1500 but couldn't ride it, too heavy, I'm too short and not strong enough. Imported a Tow Pac insta trike kit and fitted it. loved it so much I sold the spyder, now my only bike is the 1500 and appreciating the engineering of a REAL bike, I ride all year round and in all weathers except snow. now 72 years old.

I have turned wrenches professionally since about age 18. I have always lived and taught others my goal, if the job takes you an extra 10 minutes or 1 hour to do it correctly, take that time, do the job right the first time. Come backs only upset your customers and slows you down. In 1997, I was offered a great business opportunity by a headhunter. I gave my current boss a 3 month notice that I was leaving. I had ran, built and expanded my then current bosses business for over 20 year. On the last week of my employment my current boss came to me and offered me the "opportunity" to drop my resignation and he would "forget" I was resigning. I would also be ALLOWED a .25 cent per hour raise. Mind you I ran that company.

In the mean while I turned down the head hunter's job offer. My wonderful wife thought I should open my own business. So I did some research and we had a lot of "It's about time you did that, sign me up" comments. So we opened up our own Mobile Industrial Supply and Maintenance business. We worked on many types of equipment from push mowers to large construction equipment. We also did cars, trucks and motorcycle repair as well as sold many many types of supplies to our customers.

In January of 2019 I was hit on my motorcycle, I still have a severe concussion. My wife who owned the business closed it down so she could help me recover, at the time I really could not walk and talk at the same time, heck, I could hardly talk. So, now I'm retired.
To much information? Sorry. I am trying to learn how to ride again.

Ed, I hope you can recover and get back to riding again, riding has done more for me in my old age than it did in my youth.
Best wishes
Alex.

I've mentioned my story once or twice somewhere here.

worked as a Communications Tech/Specialist ( whatever the companies wanted to call it ) gopher?
did that from 1961 through Dec 2010, for two pipeline companies, one Middle/High School complex for a while, and then 18 years for a fire department installing PCs, Computers, Dispatch stations in fire houses.

Jan 2008 that suddenly stopped, when a Semi merged me into the Jersey Median wall......
Off duty for six months, Desk Duty for 18 months and then they retired me when my rule of 80 clicked in.

Now, I surf the 'net, and help folks with PC type issues, or forum issues when I can...
Never was a bike mechanic, but was raised in a Machine Shop and dad had me turn a lot of wrenches in my lifetime.... Not afraid to change a tire on a car or bike

Started logging in 1977,got hurt once, put a jillpoke in the back of my upper thigh and broke the leg. Got out of logging in 1991 when the spotted owl crap started. Then settled for a gardening job with the city where I retired in 2005
