As I remember from automotive ignition classes the biggest thing new plugs provided were sharp edges to get the spark arc started and the older plugs wore the edges round and misfired. Enter platinum iridium etc. extremely hard materials that did not round off so easily so the sharp edges stayed and plugs lasted100k miles. Now cars started using the waste spark method as bikes have for years they discovered platinum or iridium on both the center electrode AND the ground electrode provided great wear great spark and long lift

Anvil Heads offer a mighy long flat surface to land on. The updraft alone could keep you aloft for hours.

I was speaking more to the side gap, rather than the dual ground electrodes. Of course, the dual ground electrodes offers double the area to foul with lead. :)

Only one will spark not both the one with least resistance will spark.

Good morning all !!
I have a 1998 GL1500SE and was wondering if anyone had tried a set of Iridium spark plugs in their Goldwing GL1500?
They say that the Iridium plugs are for fuel injected engines but I am currently trying out a set in my 04 VTX1300 which is not injected. They do seem to work well so far I've put 2500 miles on them with no problems. The bike seems to accelerate a bit better and the fuel economy has come up about 8%. The VTX1300 is a V twin with 2 spark plugs per cylinder. I am tiring to see if I get better longevity out of them than the stock NGKs I currently use. The Iridium plugs I am using are also NGKs.
I would like to know if anyone has used these before I invest in a set for my next plug change.

Too bad 2 plugs per-cyl don't play out like Doublemint's jingle.
My 250,000 miles 1991 1500 is on her 2nd set of Platinums.
I just found my backup set for $36.00, good God these are expensive when not on sale.
