Thank you for the photo instruction, very nice job. I know this is an old post, but still relevant today, and important.
My 85 Limited was always problematic to change gears, a little anyway. Then I noticed it creeping. I haven't had the bike that long, and only recently rode it into town, hence noticing the creep at a red light.
So, I researched it, and came upon this post. Took it apart today and shur nuf, it's worn. And stuck! But the rod came out of the bushing with just pliers. I put in a bb for now, and went for a ride, WOW! Fixed it!

I have a new set on the way (bushing, rod, seal). Thank you again. Without this post, who knows what I'd have done trying to fix it. I had already flushed the fluids when I got it, everything! Well, still gotta do the final drive.

Is the bushing on the throttle side the same ? The reason I ask, is sometimes I have to jiggle the clutch or the front break lever around to get the Cruise Control to activate . . . .

It turns out I needed TWO types of bushings for my bike. . . . The clutch one talked about here, and the pivot one one both levers. No luck finding the later yet...... :oops:

Hello,
I just want to ask a quick question. Does part number 9 slip over the end of the shaft which is part number 2 or does it go into the master cylinder where the shaft goes in ?

I have a 1994 goldwing SE 1500.

The rubber boot goes over the rod (number 2) and the hole in the end of the rubber boot sits between the two raised flanges in the middle of the shaft.

Thank you. That part #9 kind of looks like an old stove pipe that like President Lincoln used, the one that's on the rod, between the two raised flanges I have on my rod looks like a rubber seal that goes on valve in a engine. Do I cut part of the boot off so it looks like a O- Ring?
