Gl1000 won't run!!
Gl1000 won't run!!
I have a 75 gl1000 I've cleaned the carbs, coated the gas tank and changed the coil. It ran low on gas and got trash in the carbs and after I cleaned them it ran fine. And then all the sudden stoped running. So I cleaned the carbs again and now it will crank and run for a few seconds then it will die. When I try to crank it again it back fires and sounds like 20 shotguns going off at once. I keep cleaning the carbs and it always dose the same thing no matter how good I clean them. Dose anyone have any idea what else the problem could be or what I've possibly done wrong?

Re: Gl1000 won't run!!
Loud noise in the exhaust indicates that the exhaust is getting flooded with unburnt fuel then ignited.
I even did this. ....I ran down the road and bumped the kill switch. It took 2 seconds to turn it back on and POW from the exhaust.
With this in mind,Look at the ignition system again. If one coil or cylinder isn't firing, the fuel ends up beind dumped into the header where it will eventually explode.
A quick test...Fire up the bike..run it for 3-4 seconds and shut it off.Lightly tap on each header to test for heat...A cold pipe is a dead cylinder.
