GL1200 Big Bore Kit??

Post by jasonb4674 »

Anyone know if they make a kit to bump up a 1200 to a 1500? I heard about someone doing this but am not sure if they were just telling stories or did they really do it. Thanks for any tips!

Never heard of such a thing. You'd have to add 75 cc to each of the four cylinders in order to do that - that's an awful lot of displacement to add. You could get a little bit by boring, but there's not much you can do with that aluminum block and the thin walls. So you're left with lengthening the stroke, which means machining a new crank. Even with that, I don't know that you'd get 75 cc out of it.

I've never heard of such a kit, and I kind of doubt that such a thing is physically possible.

If you want 1500cc, I think you're better off buying a GL1500. :)
