oil light on

oil light on
when im fixing to start my bike i turn the key to on and crank it...the starter engages but it does start bike...well the neutral light is on and so is the oil light any suggestion as to why

The oil light comes on when there is insufficient oil pressure. When the engine isn't running, there is zero oil pressure, which is why the oil light comes on. Once the engine starts, the oil light should go out immediately.
