Carb o-ring on air filter side replacment?

Post by hdriderbb »

I am cleaning carbs on a 1985 Aspencade and need to replace an o-ring that is not offered by Honda. It is the o-ring / gasket that is installed on the air filter side of the carb body. It seals the carb to the air filter base. Since it is not offered, by Honda (unless you buy the carb assembly) does anyone have another part that can be used? I hate to use gasket sealant, but I may have to.

I thought about going to Home Depot and trying to find an o-ring to match, but the OEM o-ring is a special o-ring. Has anyone used or did something that works perfect to seal the carb and air filter base.

Picture below has the red arrow to the o-ring I need. Oh, if someone has one laying around let me know how much you will sell it for?

Do you know the size of it? If so, I'd try having a look around the Internet for a generic replacement, before attempting an RTV type repair.

Well, I found an o-ring that will fit. I went to Autozone and they matched one up. It is a little small, but I stretched it by putting it on a bottle for about 30 minutes and it fits perfect.

If anyone needs one, here is the information.

Well, after using the Auto Zone 0-ring I found out that the OEM part is offered by Honda. The part number is listed in the 1986 Honda parts fiche. I did not even think about checking the next year model. Anyway, I just wanted to let anyone reading this know.
