idle problem (sometimes)
I have an 84 GL1200A that has recently started giving me an idle problem: the idle screw is set for 1000 rpms, but alot of times now, it idles at 5-600 rpm and stalls out; then other times it idles fine. If I bump up the idle screw, then the next time it wants to idle normal, it will idle around 15-1600. The carbs were rebuilt by my Honda dealer, due to ethanol issues, and synced by them also. The bike runs fine except for this new idle issue ( roughly 8 months after the rebuild). Any thoughts???

Re: idle problem (sometimes)
my first thought is to drain each Carb bowl.
Run the bike a few minutes to ensure that they are full, then drain each one and catch the fuel.
I suspect that there is gunk in the bowls.
If you find any debris or water, siphon the entire tank, flush the lines, fuel pump and replace the filter.
Even a quarter teaspoon in one Carb can stop up the idle port.
