I just bought an 86 1200 aspencade, it runs great till 3800 rpm's an then fall flat on its face. the bike was sitting for years and has very low km's

Remove the air cleaner and stick a mirror into the bottom of the plenum box. You should be able to see each carb's slide.rap the throttle and verify the slides jump up. If there stuck down,that will explain the loss of power.the slides must rise to allow more air and fuel in.

Also check the condition (and age) of the fuel and air filters.
