Advice needed

Post by seldonca »

I'm going to go pick up my new (to me) Wing on the weekend. I've reserved a 14 foot u-haul truck to bring it home in. I'm not sure how to secure it so it doesn't move around or fall over tho. I was thinking of getting one of these, http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product ... heel-Chock , and securing it to the floor with emt straps. It's an '82 GL1100A if it makes a difference.

You don't need to buy a wheel chock unless you have plans for it down the road. If the trailer has a wood floor you can screw down a length of 2x4 on each side of the wheel to keep it from moving.
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

Unfortunately I don't have a hitch and my car isn't rated for towing anyways. Hyundai says the Elantra has zero towing capacity. I would have gone the trailer route if I could have.

Don't tell Uhaul that you are moving a motorcycle. They frown upon motorcycles in their trucks and enclosed trailers. My friend had to tell them he was moving furnature. :)

Yeah, I worked for u-haul and its a rule with them, NO motorized vehicles of any type in their enclosed trucks or trailers only the open type trailers with ramps. The rails on the inside of the truck aren't strong enough to tie down a heavy motorcycle they will pull away from the walls. So good luck with that furniture your will be moving :D
