Radial Tire

Post by 01 winger »

My wife has a 96 gl1500se with a voyager kit on it,i changed the rear tire on bike with a car tire 175-60-16 radial. Now the front tire is needing changed should i replace it with factory bias tire or put a radial on the front.Didn't know if it would make any difference maybe a radial would make it easy for her to steer. Thanks for any input.

Shouldn't make any difference---although many say that you aren't supposed to mix bias ply and radials on a bike, many do, and there are production motorcycles out now that come from the factory with a bias/radial mix.

If she's going to keep the voyager kit on it, it will likely make no difference at all.

May I ask which 175-60-16 tire you are running? I'm running a dunlop wintersport tire in that size, and it's becoming harder to find.

yeah, I've heard of the formoza...it's not a runflat like my dunlop---I've not decided on what tire I'll move to next, but if I can't find another runflat 175, I'll probably move to a 195 width, as it's easy to find RF tires in that size.
