Avon Venom tire pressures

Post by dingdong »

I have been researching tire pressures for the Venom. Their web site recommends 48 / 50 lbs in the rear if riding two up and loaded pulling a trailer. This seems kind of high to me. "Max" cold pressure is listed on the tire as 50lbs. I know Admin uses Venoms also. Anyone ever ran these tires at this pressure. I am more concerned with proper tire wear at that pressure.

My tire pressure rule of thumb is - maximum less 10%. Seems to do the trick.
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

I ran my Venoms at 41 front and 44 rear, I usually run one up , with trailer about 50% of the time and like to play aggressively in the twisties. I had good even wear at those pressures on my 1100 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

Don't remember what I kept my Venoms at on my GL1100, but on my GL1500 I have them at 41 front and 46 rear. That's one up, no trailer. With trailer/passenger I bump the rear up to 51.
