Bluetooth for GL1500

Post by aschappert »

I ride a 1998 GL1500 Aspencade. It does have a factory installed CB radio. I hoping that there is some sort of plug in device, or auxiliary wiring harness that would allow two way communication with my cell phone using wired sound system in my helmet. Has anyone seen such a device?

I have one designed, on paper, with the idea of putting it into production, but I haven't yet done so. There are others out there, but at price points approaching $300, I just can't go there.

I have not been able to find anything to do this job, at any price. Can you give me a heads up on the "others out there"?

Sorry, I was wrong, it's not $300, it's $600: http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp ... FBR-GL1800

I knew there was a reason why I considered it totally out of my price range.

Unfortunately, like everything else I've seen it only works with the GL1800. It's the older GL1500 I need help with.

Maybe it's time for me to pull out my design and see about producing it - mine would work with GL1500 and GL1800.

I use the Scala Rider G4 Blue tooth system. I first bought it so that I could talk with my brother when we go for rides together. He doesn't have a CB on his bike. It has a range of up to 1 mile line of sight and has very good sound quality and battery life. It also links to my phone and I can make and receive calls while riding with the touch of a button. The phone call is clear and the people I talk to are surprised when I tell them I am riding down the hiway at 100km/h. It does not connect in any way to the sound system of the 1500, so I do have two microphones and two sets of speakers ,one stacked on top of the other in my helmet.I am very pleased with how well it works for me. 8-)

Ride safe, Todd
