rider and passenger weight

Post by tuel20 »

I just bought a 82 Gl1100I to get back into riding. My question is this Im a big guy 6'2" going 255# and my wife well lets say shes not thin-how safe is this going to be for riding when the weight compacity is around 395#? When I looked at this bike it didn't even come to mind about weight since its such a big bike.

I've seen these bikes carry substantial weight. :) You might want to make sure your rear shocks are adjusted correctly, but your bike should have no problem.

You will be fine but I do suggest a pair of boots with lugged soles and good grip. You will be holding up a lot of weight which is not an issue until you stop and put your foot down on loose gravel, oil or some other slick surface. That is when you will be happy you are not wearing tennis shoes or flip flops.
