First, glad to hear you didn't come out too bad from your spill!

Next...what kind of bike is it?

Will it go into any gear other than first? Is it in neutral now? You said "Clutch" in the subject - are you having problems with the clutch? Or just saying that's why you can't get it into gear? Is there any obvious damage to the bike?

Hi.

Duh sorry about that, I have a 83 GL1100 it will shift into 2nd,3rd ,4th and OD just not first, the bike itself isn't that bad a shape just scratchs more then anything and the shifter was bent but not bad, hav since strighted it out.

I'm guessing that the problem might be a bent shifter fork rather than a clutch problem, if you can shift into all the other gears. It can happen if the shifter gets a good whack when the bike does down (I'm assuming it went down on the left side).

Yes it did go down on the left side, roughly how expensive would it be have it repaired?

You know, I couldn't really say...it's been so many years since I actually had a bike repaired somewhere instead of doing it myself, I don't really know what it would cost.

The engine would have to come out, which isn't that big a deal on a GL1100. If it is a shifter fork, you'll pay much more for labor than for the part itself.

If the shifter arm was bent, then it's a good chance that the shifter shaft was bent also. That may be what's causing the problem, but we are both guessing over the internet.. You need a tech to take a look at it.
