Coolant Change

Post by bstig60 »

I am preparing to change the coolant in my 88 GL 1500. Not wanting to pay $10 per quart for Honda's product, can I use a 50/50 mix of Prestone? The label says Silicate free and compatible with Aluminum engines.

Thanks for the response, guys..... Prestone it is....... I will complete this and change the differential gear oil and the initial service will be done. Changed the cruise filter and the sub air filter. Both came out in pieces or more like powder as soon as I touched them. New ones installed. For those of you who haven't changed these filters, I suggest you check them as I think they tend to get overlooked. The sub air filter in particular could cause severe problems if it disintegrates and gets into the carbs. Need to change oil as well.... 3000 miles in 3 weeks.
