socket head cap screws and such
When I bought my wing it had an aftermarket rider backrest installed. Since it didn't hinge forward it makes things very difficult for the Mrs to get on the bike so I'm going to remove the backrest (likely sell it).
The bolts holding the mounting brackets to the passenger handles are to long with the backrest brackets removed and I don't have the original bolts. I did some research and I believe what I need are (qty 4) 8x50x1.25mm socket head bolts. I'm wondering if anyone has a good source for these?
Thanks,
Steve

I went to Fastenal to find most of my non-shoulder type bolts.

Cripes, I've got one down the street. I've never been in there so didn't even think of them. Perfect! Thanks.

I've bought them at the local hardware store.
You can order them from Cyclemax.com

Yeah, I have looked at a couple of the big box stores as well as the local hardware but no luck. Besides, I'm thinking that I want/need to have either a zinc or stainless steel screw in there since they are in the elements. Those are even less likely to be found at one of those locations. I found the SKU number from Fastenal so I'm gonna stop after work today or tomorrow.

I have gotten the black coated ones at automotive parts places, and just used some never seize on the threads. I think just black ones originally came with my wing, or maybe with a backrest kit.

There is a company called McMaster-Carr they carry almost everything you could think of.

You might check out the bolts a second before you replace them. Ive had a Kromeworks and at one other time a Kuryakyn backrest that bolted to the passenger handles. In either case they both used stock Honda seat bolts.

Re: socket head cap screws and such
The PO put in a hex cap screw for each location. They are definitely to long. I believe they were 60mm or longer if I remember right.
Re: socket head cap screws and such
Those bolts for the seat are pretty long. They go through the handles ,through the thick plastic bushing and into the frame. Theyre basically the rear support for the seat on the frame. if you have a friend with an 1800 I would ask him to pull one before you replace them. If you want to get a set thats easier to work with ,Wingstuff has tapered tip bolts that are easier to start when threading.

Re: socket head cap screws and such
There you go, assuming I have friends. Let alone one with an 1800. LOL I don't know of anyone right near me with a Wing.
I was basing the measurement off of one of the parts drawings. It calls for a M8-1.25 x 50mm socket head cap screw.
I would certainly think about McMaster-Carr or even Grainger if I need to but I believe the Fastenal should have what I need as well. If I can manage to get there before they close for the night. I keep getting tied up and missing out.

Cool. Where did you find those? And do you have a part number?

Hey Ghostman, that wingstuff site is perfect for finding whatever one needs for their wing. Thanks for sharing the site. I'll be spending much time... and money there. LOL
