I tried on and liked the fit of an Arai Signet Q helmet. I also want to get a blue tooth intercom/ headset a little later on.
Has anyone heard if there is a problem fitting the Arai helmets with a headset?
They are expensive and I want to get it right.
Thanks everybody,
John

Re: Arai helmet question
I have fit three J&M intercoms into Arai helmets (including my current helmet) with no problem at all. the wires fit in quite well, you'll need to do a bit of foam cutting in the chin bar to seat the microphone properly. It's probably about two hours of work to do a really good job. It would be a lot less if I did it all the time.John S wrote:I tried on and liked the fit of an Arai Signet Q helmet. Thanks for input. I bought the helmet- now I'll be on the lookout for a Blue tooth intercom system. Sena looks good.

Re: Arai helmet question
I am currently trying out a Uclear HBC 100 plus Bluetooth intercom system for my 89 1500. I have a cheap GMAX modular helmet and there is no boom mic to worry about as the mic is in the earpieces. So far it sounds good and links up to my Blackberry phone with no issues. For music you can play it through your phone or alternately you can purchase a Bluetooth transmitter (I got the Sena SM10 transmitter) along with a cable that plugs into the front cable for the original radio system. This unit then streams stereo music to two Bluetooth headsets. I also mounted an older Garmin GPS system with a headphone out which I plugged into the Sena Transmitter which should send the voice directions to my helmets as well. Music sounds good so far but haven't had the opportunity to test the GPS directions or the Phone. The uclear HBC 100 plus was supposed to be good for only two riders/passengers, however a firmware update says that I should be able to link to two more riders/passengers but haven't tested it out yet. Uclear also has a more expensive set in the HBC 200 series which is good for up to 10 riders/passengers and uses jump technology to connect all riders at the same time.
Re: Arai helmet question
Hey thanks so much for the information about your Uclear system. I am considering that one as well as the Sena 20 (series). Do you have a rider hooked up with your system? I wondered how the intercom part of the Uclear was- especially without a mic.

Re: Arai helmet question
Have only had a rider on with me once so far, due to crappy weather, and the intercom worked quite well, however I had a problem going back to the music after using the intercom as it did not resume the music on its own. I ended up having to switch off the Sena transmitter and back on again and the music started right away again. I'm not sure which unit is responsible for that yet and will have to keep playing with it to try and get it right.
