Question: how many highway miles do you travel between oil changes using a full synthetic oil ?
50% highway travel and 50% combination.

Follow the guidelines laid down in the Owner's handbook, as it really doesnt matter if you are running average miles. It is when you are in extremes of temperatures that you may have to decrease/increase the viscosity. As a general rule, and this is my practice, I try to change the oil at least every six months unless I clock up a lot of miles in between.

While still under warranty, change as recommended for your bike.
After that, I run my 1800 10K between changes of Mobile 1 T4 motorcyle synthetic.
BTW, my shifts are a lot smoother using this brand!

I try to change mine every 4k.That may seem a bit excessive, but it's cheap insurance.It doesn't matter to me whether it's synthetic or dino. More importantly change the filter. Todays oils are made to easily protect to 5k or more, but the filter is where most wear particles (and some contaminants) are trapped.
