I'm not going to try to tackle rebuilding the carbs. Anyone have a good experience with sending off their carbs. Suggestions of a specialty shop for this will be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Heard of pistol Petes but he only works on 1000's I believe.

Made2Care it would really help if we knew your location. You might even find a forum member near you willing to do this job for you. Never hurts to ask once we know where you are.

Thanks guys for all your help on this. I called mike Nixon in ca and he said he could do it with a 4 weeks turnaround. Really nice guy.
Another question, he mentioned when shipping , no gas smell should be present. What solution should I use to rid the carbs of gas before sending off??

You could just let it sit in the open air for a while. Or, use something volatile and relatively odorless, in which gasoline is soluble. Try rubbing alcohol.made2care wrote:Thanks guys for all your help on this. I called mike Nixon in ca and he said he could do it with a 4 weeks turnaround. Really nice guy.

Good to hear. Mike is very knowledgeable on carbs and he freely shares that knowledge. You may want to ask Mike how do get rid of the gas smell. I'm sure he has a carb friendly solution.made2care wrote:Thanks guys for all your help on this. I called mike Nixon in ca and he said he could do it with a 4 weeks turnaround. Really nice guy.

Another resource for carb rebuilding is: www.oldschoolcarbs.com
He also lists a PDF on packaging which shows the carbs wrapped in plastic--maybe that controls the odor.
