First off, thank you to all who have posted before me. The knowledge I have acquired in my forum searches has not only improved my skills, but has saved me a lot of money.
While gathering the tools needed to sync my carbs, I easily found everything except for the intake boots adapter nipples. I bought 5mm set screws and drilled through them, but after 15 drill bits & two completed screws, I thought there had to be a better way. I looked for 5mm nylon bolts used for RC cars & such, but only found them on line. I figured they would be a lot easier to drill, and still not a bad choice. While looking through my can of bolts, I noticed a piece of plastic with threads on it. After closer examination, I realized it was actually the rear section, or shaft of a dart. It seems that some, not all darts have a plastic / nylon / acrylic (not sure of the material) 5mm male threaded end that screws into the metal dart. All you have to do is cut off the rear section of plastic and drill out the center. Add an O ring and start you sync.

This is a photo of a dart that can be converted into a nipple for the intake boots & carb sync.
