What's the best Retella oil for my 86?

Post by nlovern »

Hi,
Nathan Lovern here. I've heard a lot on here that Rotella oil is good to use in the old Wings and wanted to know what's the best kind weight I can use in my 86,
Thanks for all the input on my rod knock. I think it's just high miles. My spedo or odemeter doesn't work and is sitting at 56,000. So mileage is a unknown factor. I got a 93 gmc with the old school 350 motor and has 200,000 miles and it has got a rod knock at 2500 rpm's. Been driving it like that for 5 years.
I'm not concerned if the motor goes bad I just don't know it it will wreck my on interstate if it goes running 70-75. I don't do it often but I wanted a bike they could run the interstate if I needed to. Now it freaks me out :-0
Got a very annoying deacceletating rattle up front that bugs me a lot. Anyone else have it ?
Thanks for all the help,
Nathan ,Va

If I were going to put Rotella in my crankcase, it would be the exact oil cbx4evr posted the picture of. I used it in a GL500I, my 750 Virago, and tried it in the GL1200 before deciding to use Delo 400LE.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.
