Engine noise and vibration

Post by Ernestee0 »

Yesssss , it worked , I bought a 86 ' Aspy with major vibration in the engine on decel , this was caused by the alternator damper !!!!!!
The balancing balls in the damper were stuck , because of " normal " wear of the friction material in the damper . This damper is high tech with balancing balls in oil and frction material and springs.
I machined 0.3 millimeter of the adjacent carrier for the damper springs , reassembled and voila , a beautiful running gl1200 ,with a nice whirring sound when shifting and letting the revs drop.I took me to engine pulls ( removal ) and a lot of reading to solve this riddle .
Even after full disassembly of the engine I was still puzzled :?: , I got it to work again say the word !!!!!! :D
