SO MUCH WHITE SMOKE!!!
Today I was in the process of replacing a head gasket and my thermostat. I got the thermostat in and started removing the head. I started to take off all the bolts to remove the head and then Realized I was running out of light so I cranked everything back down and packed everything up. I started the bike and after warming for a few minutes it started pouring white smoke when it idled but at higher revs the smoke went away. Could I have damaged the head gasket even more by removing those bolts?

Most head gaskets are no re torque meaning once the head gasket has been relieved of pressure there is little change that it won't leak. Water and oil make white smoke.

Right. Once the head has been loosened, you have to pull it, clean it, and replace the gasket if you want it to seal again. Re-torquing on an old gasket is not going to cut it, as you have discovered.

Awesome I figured that was the case. This is my first bike so I'm trying to figure it out as I go along. So can you guys point me in the direction of a good video or tutorial on how to get the head off. Thanks
