GL 1500 Key blank number

Post by joeincalif »

I have been to Lowes, home depot and a hardware store, no one has a blank to make a key for my 97 SE. I'm sure some of you have extra keys made for your 1500 wings, my question is where did you get it done and do you know the number on the key blank
I can go a lock smith here in town as a last resort but he wants $8.00 a key.

I have never had the need to buy a key for a Goldwing until I bought my last 1500 a few years ago, tried a few places who said they do not do them as I guessed they would say. I was quoted = to $200+ for one of these from a Goldwing dealer.

I almost pissed myself laughing, made $17 from Cyclemax seem like a xmas present.

The HD74 and HD75 double sided key blanks cover a whole bunch of Honda models and if you can get one copied for $8 I would do it as long as your original key is in good shape. If your key is worn out or you don't have one I can cut one by code and mail it for less than ten bucks. I have multiple databases and two code cutting machines that will insure a smooth working key provided the lock cylinder is in proper order. I just bought an 81 Goldwing Interstate with one key, cut a new key by code (HD74), and it works every lock cylinder on the bike perfectly. I would like to help everyone on this forum with keys in the future but work is very busy now and my time is limited.

Uh. Surely owner, registration, ID, and Goldwing all have to be present at the same time to get a key cut if there is no key to duplicate.

Have I read it wrong or are you saying you will cut a key to a Goldwing that has no key and post it to someone on the forum.

So you could end up with a key to anyones Goldwing who is willing to supply you enough info, no wonder you are offering to help everyone, how much do you sell working keys for, with info on the Goldwing they fit.. Jeesus .

Sincere apologies if I got things wrong.

Nope, most places will cut keys from code, no proof of ownership or anything else required. Besides, there is no cross-reference between owner/registration ID. And if you don't have a key to start the bike, how can you present it? There are even services online that do this, a quick Google search found several services like this one: http://www.keys4classics.com/

Keep in mind that a freshly cut key that is new, cut to code, may not properly operate a worn lock properly.

You got it wrong, apology accepted. :D

Although there are some sites that will cut a code key no matter who you are, I won't. Payment is Paypal only with verified address and I need a picture of your registration card with the address matching. That's a "reasonable" effort to determine ownership. If you're selling parts or don't have a title/registration yet on a project bike then a picture of the removed ignition switch is "reasonable".
