alternator swap
I recently installed a "Ricks" high output 31-101 H alternator in my 1990 GL1500 .Easy install,3 bolts and one small black wire from switch and one large wire to battery . THe alternator spins but does'nt charge .Any ideas of what I could have done wrong on such a simple install?

Re: alternator swap
As long as you apply 12 volts to the sense wire, when it is spinning, it should be generating power. Measure the sense wire and make sure you have power there. If you do, and you're still not getting power generated, then there's going to a problem with the alternator itself.
