is this a 79 or 80-83 seat ive been told both

Post by halcombrick »

I got this at a junkyard it was in a pile of stuff next to a 79 wing. I thought it would fit my 82. I was told it was a 79 then told it was for 80-83, can somebody solve this for me, I am new to wings and have no clue about what year parts are yet. thanks rick.

I've had both models...I don't recall the 1100 seat having the metal trim on the bottom edge.My mind says it's for a gl1000.

I had an 82 & it did not look anything like the pic. 82 & 83 seats were very similar. Your seat is neither. Sorry. :(

From the pic you showed us that looks alot like the stock seat that was on my 82 Aspy when I got it. Can you show us a pic of the bottom of the seat pan? Mine was white plastic 8-)

Pull your old seat off and see if the new one fits!....would only take a few minutes. If it doesn't fit and is in good shape I'm sure someone here would buy it

My 07/75GL came with a spare bike 08/75GL with one seat each and one is definately aftermarket with a plastic based embossed with "Cheatah, Westminster Ave Santa Ana Ca". The other seat has a metal pan, looking very original with surface rust..

It has white plastic bottom. I've not took my old seat off yet but my 82 seat has the chrome trim aroundit just like this one. II'll post a pic shortly.

I don't know about a 1000, but that is definitely a 1100 seat. It looks identical to the 82 and 83 I previously had.
