The biggest number you can think of, minus 1! That is providing you carry out maintenance, and attend to any ills that present themselves. They are a strong mc and you should get the benefits from it for a long time.

Probably one of the more difficult questions to answer, since none of us know the maintenance history of the bike in question. However, if the oil has been changed at regular intervals, the cooling system has been flushed once in a while and the general maintenance (belts too) has been performed with regularity, I'd expect many thousands of miles...

I recall one member posted recently that he bought his 1100 brand new and has put 450,000KM on it since buying it... If I did the math right, that's 270,000 miles give or take, and that's something to be proud of.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

The fellow I`m purchasing from seems to have it all well kept clean and ready to go we`ll put some belts and oil in and start adding miles, aiming for 8-10 thousand klks this season

I hope I get this right.....on goldwingdoc's goldwing chat, there's a topic called "Average age", and there's a guy that bought a 1978 gl1000 new, and he says he has over 400,000 on his, and has a lot of details....
