This is an appeal to anyone holding OEM bearings that they don't think they will use.
In particular, GL1000 connecting rod shells. I have a number of customers needing shells for rebuilds, some dating back a few months now. I have exhausted all the NOS contacts that I have, and that's a great many. These shells are now virtually extinct, with only the odd one occasionally showing up.
So if anyone can help, send me a PM. These guys would be most grateful.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

You didn't hear this from me and I take absolutely no responsibility for the outcome.
Many years ago I rebuilt a gl1000.
Could not find rod shells(bearings).Yes I know about the color coding specs too.
I ordered a set for a 1978 honda Civic.
Same displacement engine.
The rod shells were very close.I did have to trim a few mm.from the width.
Plastigauged each one and trimmed to fit the specs.Way too much time but I had it to spare.
Even if you can find OEM ones, you must match the color code to the crank size.Even the factory hand picked each one during assembly.
By the way.The ring set worked too.
Research showed that one could beef up a civic engine using gl1000 pistons. There heavier.
Food for thought

Re: Gl1000 / 1100 / 1200 crankshaft bearings needed
Thanks for the reply,
Yes, I knew about the Civic bearings for the conrods. The two problems are that they are almost as elusive as the Wing ones, but more to the point, I am supplying them to customers who may or may not be up to modifying them. So really, they are a non-starter.
They are the wrong size for the 1100/1200 in any case.
I think that the conrod shells from the Acty or Life may be the same as the 1000 but trying to get info on them is near impossible. I know that the mains on these engines are different to the 1000, but might fit the 1200. But again, info is scarce.

Thanks for looking that up.
The dealers all seem to use a common access Honda fisc, although they are able to put their own prices on it. I already called Babbits in Mi who showed the same, but had none and couldn't get any.
But in the hopes, I have emailed Ronnies. I will hazard a guess that I get the same answer.

Well, to my surprise, I found a very helpful young lady at Ronnies!
No, as I thought, they didn't have physical stock of any of them, but she checked with Honda and found that they still had some of them but didn't tell her how many of each.
I ordered a near 2 dozen of different sizes......I am getting roughly half of them now, with the rest on back order. I doubt I will see those, but then, I doubted I would see any!
