what parts are interchangeable if any.....
Hi All, Hope everyone is having a good day my question is how many parts (mechanical) or any others are interchangeable between a 1982 gl11 00 aspencade and a 1985 gl1200 aspencade? I have a 1982 aspencade that I'm going to be taking apart to sell the parts and was wondering if any parts can be used on my 85 aspencade no sense selling parts that I might have to have later on thanks to everyone who responds Tony

Re: what parts are interchangeable if any.....
Well I don't know exactly, but as luck would have it, I happen to have a 1982 parts bike (mostly stripped now, engine in my 1980 bike) AND I just bought a 1987 Aspy with a few issues. The 87 needed a rear rotor and with a little digging I determined it was the same as my 82 without the venting. So I installed it, fits perfect. The only way to know for sure is to try to cross reference ALL the parts you might want to keep, OR sell all the stuff and re-buy if you need it. That's what I'm planning to do as soon as my 87 is all set.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply I was thinking I would ask just in case anyone knew off hand before I would start checking for the parts that way. Again thanks for your input about this be safe and keep the sunny side up when you're out there

Re: what parts are interchangeable if any.....
At a guess, Brian's lucky find of the rear rotor may be the only interchangeable part on the chassis, although I thought the non-vented rotor on the 1200 was 7mm thick, not 10mm like the 1100 Aspy (that rotor is totally unique to that model and year, not used on any other Honda!)
In the engine: the conrod bearings, water pump, timing wheels, possibly some of the gear train, starter chain, oil pump chain, stator and rotor. That's really about it.
Electric: neutral switch (I think), fan switch, oil pressure switch, temp gauge switch.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
