one tooth off on your timing would not cause the no idling issue. I would expect it to be your slow idle jets are clogged or your carbs are not synced properly. I am going to guess that you did adjust your valves after you got the timing problem solved?? :D :D

I read that you checked the carbs but your issue sure sounds like clogged idle jets. Mine idled fine even while running on 2 cylinders. Those idle jet orfices are near microscopic.

There are so many causes of poor idle or performance below 2000rpm that I will recommend that you go to Randakks and read his carb tech tips regarding this. http://www.randakksblog.com/lazy-slow-r ... /#more-983 This isn't just regarding slow return to idle it deals with all possible causes for erratic idle or performance under 2krpm. There is also the possibllity of ignition problems. Take a look.

Famous last words from almost all old wing restorers: "But I just cleaned/rebuilt the carbs". Once never seems to be sufficient. Should be made the motto of Old Wing forums.

Been there and done that. I finally bite the bullet and purchased the randakk carb rebuild kit and took my time and the 82I I was working on idled like a dream. :D :D
