cleaning carbs

Post by walker70 »

Hi,it has been a while since I have done this, would like to have some insight on what any of you guys use to clean them other than spray cans of carb cleaner,I have heard some say that using the carb cleaner in the gallon can may not be good for some of the parts on these carbs, already have mine off to clean and waiting for some parts, thanks. :D

I've been using both, the spray and the additive.
My feedback is that the spray helps getting an immediate improvement, but it can't clean the entire carb. Additives are good, but generally it takes more than a few gallons to see the result of the cleaning.

Last winter I decided to take the carbs off, and clean them entirely. I've used the Randakk kit to replace the jets and some other parts. I think it's worth going for a "full clean". But as you already have your carbs off, it shouldn't be a problem. :D

Next year I will go for some additive in a few gallons, it will help keeping the carb clean!

One thing you can also consider when cleaning the carbs is to use an ultrasonic bath to clean the carb.

I did it for mine and the result was excellent. Now they look as if they were (almost) new!
