Home made Trike kit

I started building a VW Trike but getting it titled in TX is not easy any more. So I am thinking about getting a 1800 Goldwing & building my own trike kit for it. Has any one on here tried building their own kit instead of going with the ones that are for sale. I'm sure I can build one for a whole lot less money than what they are asking for them. I'm thinking about using fiberglass fenders from a 1930 Model-A Pickup I think they would look good on the 1800. just thought I could get some tips before I got started building.
