Fastest Wing

Post by romanfj »

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering, what is the fastest GoldWing. I know they weren't designed for speed; rather, for torque. I'm curious about acceleration, not top speed. Given that some Wings were much heavier than others, I can't really tell which generation would be quickest.

2001 to present GL1800 in color red. Red has always been the fastest color, Bury the speedo in 32 seconds or less.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

I suspect that the first few years of the Gold Wing before the addition of fairings and bags, were probably pretty quick for their time.

Today the quickest without a doubt in the 2001-2010. I know guys will argue that their color is fastest but the reason the Magenta was made in such a small quantity and only one year was it is the real hot rod of Gold Wings.

You might contact Cycle world Magazine or maybe Motorcycle Consumer News as they may have old road test results and be able to tell you what their tests say. there used to be some company that collected all of those articles and would sell reprints of the magazine tests. I suspect they have gone away with digital filing now.

I really don't know if mine is the fastest but I do have to stop every now and then to let the paint catch up!
