Leather saddlebags?

Post by Razrback01 »

Has anyone ever put leather saddlebags on a Goldwing standard? I have an 84 standard GL1200 I would like to put some removeable leather bags on for short little weekend trips. Most of the time I don't want them on there. what is the best way to mount them? this is a project bike and it looks way better without them but riding with a backpack on all the time gets old.

You could do it with something like these: /Store/New-Used- ... owItem=115

You take the seat off, throw them across, adjust them to fit (velcro straps), put the seat back on, and you're done. Removal is the same in reverse.

At least on those bags, the inside panels are fairly rigid, so you use the velcro to strap them to a frame member etc. to keep them from flopping around, and that's all that is required.
