2x4 (Running on half an engine)

Post by TrickyThom;) »

Ok, so the 81 has been sitting 2 (at least) years. Here is what I know.
Starts on full choke and will rev HIGH but will back off with less choke or a bit of throttle applied briefly. Then it will idle with choke on at about 2-3,000 rpm. It will die with out the choke.
It will idle without choke if I keep the rpms around 2-3K.

The right side muffler was at approx 120 F at the heads ambient temps in the 70's. Left side running at 450F. (measurement is at all pipes)

It is getting spark at both cylinders.

Anything else I should check? Anything I can do before pulling the carbs off?

Thanks

open the drain valves on the cold side and see if theres fuel in the carbs. Before you pull the carbs,do check for spark, condition of the spark plugs and compression.

Doh!
I did run some seafoam through the bike mixed with gas and smoke did come out of both tailpipes. So I assume that something must be happening on the dead side.

I will do the valves and sync it this weekend. See if that helps.
