I have searched forum and not found a answer so being new at this I will ask here.
Can air leak out a fork seal without leaking oil? Can oil leak out a fork seal with out leaking air. In other words if seal is bad do the both have to leak or can it be one OR the other.
As I said I'm new at this so thanks to all in advance.

Re: Fork Seals
Hi, for the first question Yes for the second No if the seals are bad they will both leak . If you think your leaking air, just spray the parts with soapy water.

Re: Fork Seals
I have not seen a bad fork seal that was not leaking oil at first, but over time it will leak air as well.ALEX3425 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2017 9:54 pm I have searched forum and not found a answer so being new at this I will ask here.

Re: Fork Seals
Well I guess I am going to have to find out 2 things. Where is air leaking from and is there any oil in forks. I only got this Wind a couple of months ago so do not know much about it. I do not see any oil on forks but it will not hold air.
So if seal is bad maybe there is no oil to leak. Or if it's just air then to try and find leak.
But I think what is going to happen is it's going to have to come apart. Not knowing when oil was last changed or if any is even in there that may be best option.
Will start over with soap bottle first who knows maybe I will find it this time.
Thanks to all.

Re: Fork Seals
Alex, on this model there are 2 O-rings on on each side were the air goes in to tubes, it might be leaking from there. If you decide to take them apart, change your springs to progressive and you won't need air in the forks.
