Front wheel bearings

Post by tech1 »

Hi everyone I just replaced the front wheel bearing on my 86 SE-i. And found they are dificult to tap them out thru the spacer nearly imposible. So I brought home my pilot bearing puller (slide hammer)wokred good .
Although there is not nuch of a lip to hook onto I was able to grab the inner bearing race and pop one out after that you can easly tap out the other side with a drift.
So I would suggest because I did nick up the insidse of my spacer before bringing home my bearing puller set and trying to remove the bearings as per manual. if you dont have one many auto parts stores loan or rent tools. i hope this might help anyone else with front wheel bearings.

You can also try the homemade bearing puller tool I show how to make out of a bolt here: How to replace your front wheel bearings

I've done the bolt thing a couple of times and it works great.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.
