1200 stroke?

Post by ekvh »

I have all kinds of sites showing different stokes for the 1200. Anyone know what it si for sure. I have about six sites showing it the same as the 1000 and 1100, 61.4mm, and six showing 66mm. Thinking of putting 1000 heads, cams and carbs on a 1200 motor.

Here's what the Honda service manual says for the 1200:

Bore and stroke: 75.5 x 66.0 mm (2.97 x 2.59 in)
That makes the GL1200 actually a GL1182. :)

Just for fun, here's what the GL1000 manual says:

Bore and stroke: 72 x 61.4 mm (2.834 x 2.417 in)
So the GL1000 is actually a GL999...

And for the GL1100:

Bore and stroke: 75 x 61.4 mm (2.953 x 2.417 in)
And the GL1100 is actually a GL1085! :)

Yeah, it's 66mm. Several folk have done what you are contemplating; really wakes up that 1200!
'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

( Seriously, you haven't read all 115 pages of my http://www.wingovations.com website ?? )
