Spark Plugs

Would you go double NGK double platinum spark plugs or just stick to OEM? Or aftermarket?

What about wires? IF I go with NGK plugs, shud the wires be NGK?

the OEM supplied NGK plugs out perform all the rest.

Actually, for my GL1800, I have had better service from Iridium plugs than from the NGK OEM plugs. OEM gave me one year and when I switched to the Iridiums, I noticed a big difference. I have now been on the same set of Iridiums for about five years. I will change them out this spring, with a new set of the same Iridiums. They are waiting in my tool box.

What differences do u find? Maybe'll they'll work better than the ones that r currently in my 1500.

I just found out that Iridiums are just a type of NGK plug. Silly me

Now the question is can I get NGK Iridiums in an OEM for my car (87 RX-7) which the recommended plug is NGK BUR7EQP (leading) & NGK BUR9EQP (trailing). I guess I might have to check with NGK directly for that info.

I suggest a trick to avoid to crosstread the engine head while installing spark plugs: insert the plug in a clean and short plastic hose (like the one to use to bleed brakes or gasoline hose) and start counterclockwise to feel the hole and gently clockwise to make sure that the plug is well engaged in the hole and vise easily. When it doesn't turn, just pull the hose and tork the plug gently the fraction of turn recommended by the plug maker.

The difference I noticed with the Iridium plugs was better (smoother) idling and higher fuel mileage. And yes, the Iridiums I found are also an NGK product.

I guess I shud go with the NGK double platinum as that's what I bought.

Apparently, At this time NGK does not have an Iridium version of the BUR7EQ/BUR9EQP (which are plugs for my car). However, a 92 Honda Goldwing can use NGK 7803 DPR7EIX-9 IX Iridium Plug.

I worked on vehicles for a lot of years and changed a lot of spark plugs. I found that the plugs of the type and brand that came in it are almost always best.
