Good evening everyone, I'm new to the site.
I have had my 1988 1500/6 for 20 yrs and thought it was time to service the tape deck as some of the tape sounds are getting a bit wavy. I have used in the past the cleaning tapes, but I think that now is the time that tape deck needs a good clean and service.
Are the bits and pieces that make the music sound etc, the same as a normal tape deck i.e car etc.
If the parts etc. are the same then I can get them here in New Zealand.
Any help or advise is appreciated.

There are no strange parts - any cleaner should work, and if parts are worn (rollers, etc) you should be able to use standard replacement parts.

Thanks for your help, that solves a problem. I find that the moment you mention it is from a motorcycle it becomes to hard to do and then you are told need to to get special parts from here there and everywhere. Once again thank you.

Usually the first thing to go is the rubber band. Take that into an electronics shop, match it and buy a new one.

Is this something one could do themselves or take into a service center to have done.
