Custom Paint
I am in process of restoring a 82 Goldwing. I have a hobby of rendering computer pictures on my computer. I know I can transfer my renders to to t-shirt, but I want to transfer some my art to the 82 Goldwing. I am thinking of using Dragon's and pinups theme, also some flames. My question is can I use the same transfer I use for t-shirts (iron on) on to the bike parts then have a bunch of clear coats applied to protect it, or will it take something more exotic?

Re: Custom Paint
I've seen some examples of this using gels or transparencies, like this:

I don't know that I've seen it done on a motorcycle before - not that it can't be done, just that I haven't seen it before.

Re: Custom Paint
Thanks for the info. In the movie about omnigel it appears it only uses toner from a laser printner, Also they did a small Black & White in the movie. I will have to do a little research on my own to see if it does color, but It appears it might well be a viable alternative. The movie says it will adhere to fabic, metal and glass I would assume it will also transfer to paint. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Color laser printers use toner as well, which is what I was thinking. The color laser printers we have at my office can print near photographic-quality prints in full color. The ones they have at Staples, Kinkos etc. have the same capability.

Hmmm, looks like a tryout coming. I might use the inner fender as a test piece since it's hidden from view and it's the same material as the rest of the panels. It has curves and also flexable.

I had the same idea. BTW I bet you look cool with all those flags flapping in the breeze.WingAdmin wrote:Color laser printers use toner as well, which is what I was thinking. Re: Custom Paint
I am first going to try the fabic transfer as I already have the material to print too. If that does not work I will have to try something different like omnigel, or if I get real desperate I could change the backgroud color in photoshop to match the bike and decopage the darn things on..LOL here is some of the ones I have done so far. Not really happy with any of them, as I know I can do better. I was going to put some of the picture file to show what i have done so far, but not sure how to on this site. You can see some of my work here:MJSantos wrote:Hmmm, looks like a tryout coming. Note some of the renders are "R" rated, also I did not pick the music. I was named artist of the month and they picked out the music. I guess they did not like any of the country western songs I suggested...LOL
