My two cents

Post by Asphaltmaniac »

Back in December before mounting a fresh set of Bridgestones before a March ride to key west Fl. I installed a set of the all balls tapered roller bearings and said I would report back. So after 14200 miles here are photos of my fr tire taken 180 degrees apart.

I have ridden two new wings a total of 356K since the mid 80's and except for a period when they were new the front tire always cupped. Even though I have made it a habit of re balancing tires after about 8-9K. I sure wish I had kept notes when cupping started oh well.

When the all balls came in they were greased, but lightly. I packed them as I have packed auto fr wheel bearings. I also followed All balls installation instructions to the letter and the recommended torque setting. Seems to me they would know best.

Oh and the famous goldwing decel wobble???

Gone!!! :D

Next wing I get, it all balls right away no hesitation.

I can reiterate that. I put a set in over 40,000 miles ago at 78,000 miles and likewise, prior to the Allballs install, my tires would cup after 4,000-5,000 miles and had the decel wobbles
And now at 40,000 miles still no cupping until after 14,000 miles and more. And no decel wobbles.
I'll be putting another set in this summer when I put the Traxxion aluminum tripple tree on.

My tire looks similar. All I've done is run balancing beads and 40psi, but my front end and forks are maintained.

I would imagine your tire will look even better when thats done...I have seen the flex videos, and have to figure thats going on constantly at a small scale at any speed on any road. I will have to consider it. Did the traxxion rear shock up grade recently and can recommend it. My old stock shock was toast at 207K. No more excessive sag out back...feels great!
