Tensioner Rebuild Question

Post by pocketchange »

Seems that the Cam Belt Tensioners are basically the same for the four engine designs.
I'm using a countersunk screw (M10 x 1.50 X 30MM) to secure the rebuilt tensioner assembly.
WHY does the rear face of the tensioner bearing bracket need to be flush (( particularly with the GL1500 ))?
After looking the design of the GL1500 block, the casting/mounting area for the tensioner, seems to be clear/open (?)
Am I missing something (?), if the tensioner mounting bracket does not need to have the countersunk screw head ground flush with the back tensioner bearing plate, considering there is nothing between the 2 block fasteners?
I am wanting to avoid grinding the bearing mounting plate, if it is not needed.. pc
