seeking paint stripper recommendations

Post by winguyjo »

i was about to take the first baby steps in my polishing career when i noticed that ...
1) the spare valve covers that i was going to practice on appear to be chromed aftermaket products;
2) found some spare (painted) timing belt covers to practice on and realized that the can of paint stripper that i have laying around says that it's not suitable for aluminum.

this brings up 2 questions ...
1) can anything be done with the (slightly pitted) chrome valve covers ?
2) any recommendations for paint stripper for the aluminum timing belt covers ?

thanks
joe

The valve covers can be powder coated, they get media blasted first and then powder coated.

thank you for the feedback on this.

i probably should have gone to an automotive store, but i went to home depot and picked up a can of "klean strip". all of the other products seemed to be for wood only.

will put up before and after pics to let you know how it goes.

p.s. looks like nobody ships that berrymans product to canada.
