Latest JASO oil list (1 APR 2020)

Post by Solo So Long »

I know we always love OIL THREADS, and look forward to seeing them start here, but at the risk of spoiling everybody's fun, here is the link to the latest Japanese Automotive Standards Organization (JASO) list of oils which have been tested and meet the standards for 4-stroke motorcycle use.

http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/4T_EV_LIST.pdf

The bad news is that the list is only KINDA in any kid of alphanumeric order, so you will have to hunt around to find any particular oil. It's easier just to look at the bottle of whatever you're considering.

And, to reiterate, Goldwings want oil meeting the JASO MA, MA1 or MA2 standards.

The list is missing Shell Rotella, Royal Purple, Red Line, Amsoil, Mobil 1 and a whole lot more that are available in North America and meet JASO standards. Better than half are not even available here, and some companies that are recommended, I have never heard of. It is a long list, and probably good for world wide, but it eliminates too many that we are using right now. I was totally blown away by the number of different Honda and Yamaha branded types of oil.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

Same here. The list is pretty much useless for USA customers.

How is it missing anything?
It is the official JASO MA list. From JASO.
If it is not on the list, it is not a licensed JASO oil.

All the oils you listed are JASO recommended by the manufacturers and may meet the JASO standard, but they are not licensed by JASO. Not saying they don't work, because they do. They just do not have the JASO MA license.
Recommended does not equal certified.
Heck, I use an oil that is neither JASO licensed nor even JASO recommended (Peak 15w-40 HDEO syn blend), but it works just fine for me.
