clean parts with keorosine

Post by Larry3609 »

I have just pulled the trans cover to replace the water pump, my question is would it be ok to rinse that part of the engine with keorosine in a spray bottle and then blow it out with air. Thanks Larry

I used brake cleaner to clean mine (you can see before/after pictures on How to remove and replace your water pump). Any solvent that won't damage seals is OK to use to clean this out - just be careful not to get it into the oil or coolant channels.

Kerosene? It's in my opinion one of the safest solvents you could use... Kerosene has not been known to cause harm to anything.
