So Work Continues on my 95 Aspencade. Have the rear wheel off and replaced the tire. Cleaned up final drive splines and started to look into Moly Paste online. Turns out Honda Moly 77 is Hellishly expensive so wondered what other options there might be.
After a bit if searching I located https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HWBSJW/?tag=goldwingdocs-20 from Loctite.
Did a bit of further research and found Loctite's Technical Info on the product at https://krayden.com/technical-data-shee ... paste_tds/.
Turns out the product has 65% Moly but still kinda spendy at $85 Cdn on Amazon.ca.
On a hunch I called my local auto parts supplier and they provide the identical product for $39.00 and change, delivered to my door.
Eight Ounces for less than $40.00 is in my estimation a lifetime supply for cheap and at 65% moly it exceeds Honda's minimum Moly 60% so will do nicely.
Moly Paste - 65% Moly <$40.00 Cdn for 8 oz.

I use LB8012, probably close to what you have found.

I got it at Gilbert Auto Parts in Nelson BC but any Uniselect store will be able to get it if they dont have it in stock. Same for NAPA or any other decent auto parts store.

Still no joy on finding any for less then $85.00 here in the east. The good news is I found what was left of my actual Honda moly lube tube hidden in my mess of garage shelves, so I will be good for this years tire change and 1 maybe 2 more applications.
Was wondering what the views are here on applying the goop, I have heard there is no such things as too much or just enough to cover all the metal parts evenly. What's your opinion? And, how often should the rear wheel be taken off and the moly re-applied? Again I have heard everything from every 2 years to only when the tire is being replaced. Go ahead, let me know what you think?
And while we're at it, how about which is the best engine oil to use?
Those 2 questions alone should keep this thread going for 3 or 4 years.

GreenWinger - Interesting, but disappointing that you cannot locate it less than $85.00.
Did you try a Uni-Select Jobber? They all get their product from the same warehouses (3 or 4 in Canada) and should have pretty uniform pricing across the country.
Did you specifically ask for loctite 51048 ? This is the 8oz Container.
The stuff comes in 8oz and larger containers as well perhaps you were quoted on a larger container.

Ya. So my options in the east are $85.00 for 8 oz(Amazon) or $112.00 for 16oz (Local Napa)if I want this specific moly paste. I have talked to several parts jobbers the ones that are associated with Uni select have all switched to Permatex cuz it's much easier to get here in the east. And as far as I can find out there is no equivalent in Permatex products.
Oh well like I said I am good for 2 or 3 more applications with what I have, with any luck I am 62 now by the time I go through 2 or 3 applications I will be too old to ride

Greenwinger - Don't count on the aging out thing. At 73 (74 next June) I am getting back into riding after a 30+ year absence.
