Centerstand question

Post by bigsteveswing »

I am just finishing up my DIY centerstand dolly for moving the bike laterally in the garage (gotta make room for wifey's car b4 snow flies too much).

I am wondering if any of you have come up with a good way to strap or somehow fasten the centerstand in the upright position? Pics would be awesome...

My garage floor is nowhere near as smooth as I'd like it to be and I just worry about the stand collapsing while moving.

BTW, I am also building a wheel dolly and frame dolly for the sidecar. (It has to move sideways too). Pics to follow if this all works out as planned.

I like this idea!

I would be tempted to make a temporary removable thing that locked around the center stand with one end, and around something solid (crash bar?) on the other, to make sure the stand is held forward and isn't coerced into folding back.

That is sorta what I was thinking, maybe just a ratchet strap from one leg of the stand thru the crash bars and to the other stand leg somehow.

Yes a ratchet strap does work. I use one when doing trike conversions.
